Clean Swaps: Food Storage

Clean Swaps: Food Storage

One of my favorite clean swaps are these large glass baking dishes I found at a thrift store. I am always keeping an eye out for Corningware, Pyrex, and Anchor Hocking baking dishes that are ceramic or glass and have glass lids. (side note: I don't bake with them just to be on the safe side with temperature fluctuations but they are meant for it).

I'll have to make another post about all the single use / disposable items I try to avoid these days. I just love not having to buy things that are meant for throwing away. One of those items is plastic wrap. One day, several years ago, I finished my massive costco plastic wrap roll and just thought, I'm not buying that again. I don't want to store it and I don't want to use it, so I'll figure it out. And we did. We occasionally baffle guests, but they mostly have gotten used to my idiosyncrasies.

At first, we started putting plates on top of bowls and using our glass lunch containers. But I didn't have a good method for large dishes of leftovers. Pots and pans or a 9x13 baking dish with a lid are great options. So is this large, glass Pyrex mixing bowl set. But I love my thrifted all glass, vintage-style ones. I found one of the same ones I have on Amazon here.

We also have come to love Bee's Wrap for bread, baked goods, and on top of a dish when I don't want to have to transfer leftovers to a new container.

I just love when the best "swap" for a product you decided isn't right for your family anymore is just... nothing.
